It’s been quite a while since I’ve done an update on the boys that it’s time. There’s been so much going on, that I’m really not sure where to begin. Here is the link to the last update I did on the boys.
I guess I’ll begin with Caleb, since he’s got the most going on. Since the last update, Caleb has continued to have difficulty pretty much on a daily basis at school. He has continued with the two-on one para. We have had a third IEP meeting in six weeks trying to figure out how best to help Caleb. We did qualify Caleb for Extended School Year, so that was taken care of. Nothing else was really decided at that meeting; however, because we are waiting for outside evaluators to come in and do an evaluation of Caleb and they will hopefully provide us with some answers and some strategies to help him and his teachers/paras.
One thing I learned in the meeting though is that Caleb’s academic skills have regressed. He was working on a level 3 curriculum in reading and he is now struggling to get through a level 2 curriculum. He was also able to do two-digit by two-digit multiplication last April and he is NOT able to do that any longer. I have been trying to get a hold of his neuropsychologist, but have left two messages and sent an e-mail with no response since last Thursday. I’m getting a little — okay, a LOT impatient!!!! We do have a neurologist appointment on January 6th and will be bringing up all of this to him at that appointment as well.
Steven is doing well at school. He’s been battling colds/asthma issues for over a month. He’s been on breathing treatments off and on for a month. Now he’s on a steroid. Yet, he’s still coughing so hard that he’s throwing up. We are heading back to the doctor’s office tomorrow to have him checked again. He’s never run a fever, so I’m not real sure what’s going on with him.
I’m very overwhelmed with it all right now. We’ve also been without a support worker for Caleb because he’s been sick, but we just hired someone else and will be submitting his application to the payroll agent tomorrow.
Here’s some pictures of the kids:
